On The Table!

The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties has announced this year’s recipients of its 11th Humanitarian of the Year Award which will be presented on Friday, April 20th at the PNC Reception Center in Holmdel.

Joseph Leone Introna, of Joe Leone’s Italian Specialties and Catering in Point Pleasant, will be honored, as well as LENNAR Corporation of Freehold. Both have made indelible contributions to the mission of the FoodBank and are examples of how one man and one organization can make a difference in the lives of so many who struggle against hunger on a daily basis.

“Joe Leone” as he is well known, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, NY.  He and brother-in-law, John Hilla, are co-owners of Joe Leone’s Italian Specialties and Catering in Point Pleasant Beach.  Joe has been involved with the FoodBank since he was a teenage volunteer.  His compassion and desire to help those in need have led him to support not only the FoodBank, but also numerous Cancer charities, the Red Cross, and the Point Pleasant Beach Educational Foundation, to name a few.

LENNAR Corporation is a local new home builder, building over 25,000 home in New Jersey since the 1950’s.  Today, LENNAR homes can be found in Tinton Falls, Jackson and Howell.  LENNAR is proud of their philosophy of “doing the right thing for the right reason.”  Their generosity has lent itself not only to the FoodBank on a regular basis, but also has been extended to the Make a Wish Foundation of NJ, and the American Cancer Society. LENNAR continues to help make our community a better place as well as to help those who may not be able to help themselves.

The Humanitarian of the Year dinner dance has been raising funds for the FoodBank since 1997. Last year’s event was sold-out and raised over $267,000.  This year’s gala will include Big Joe Henry as the evening’s MC; Tim McLoone and his Atlantic Coast Band, action exciting Live and Silent Auctions.

The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties is a 501© (3) non-profit that distributes over three million pounds of food a year to 270 charities in two counties.  For further information regarding the FoodBank or the Humanitarian of the Year event, please call 732-918-2600 or go to www.foodbankmoc.org.
